Exciting news

Exciting news… and a couple of questions for you at the end 😘

So, I’ve a confession, I don’t like marketing my crochet biz, I feel squirmy with sales and self promo. I avoid it so I don’t annoy people! But I realise it has to be done or nobody sees anything! So I’m facing this demon and upping my efforts.

There’s going to be more posts on here and social media and I’m going to need your help!

Facebook reach has been dismal for a couple of years now, so I had stepped back and haven’t been posting much at all. But that’s meant I’ve disconnected there and that’s not good. My blog reach here was also dismal, until last month when I made a big effort to get some traffic, thanks largely to Pinterest and my recent free patterns, traffic has improved greatly!

BUT, there’s soooo much involved in making a crochet business successful and I really need you guys and a professional strategy! So I’ve signed up to the awesome Pamela Grice – Crochetpreneur‘s Business Academy to get my business into gear and I want to get to know you all better. So you’ll soon be seeing posts here and on social media with questions and polls, please help me out by answering them 🙏.

I’ll start with 2 easy peasy ones today …

1. Do you Crochet? If not, would you like to learn?
2. What country do you live in? I’m in bonny Scotland.

Thank you so much 🥰

If you don’t already subscribe to my email list (not the internal wordpress one, I’ve set up one on Mailchimp now, you can be on both!), you’ll get exclusive discounts on all new releases and be the first to hear of new releases and pattern testing calls.

  1. I do crochet and knit as well. Have for over 20 years. I live in the U.S. but wish I lived in Scotland.

  2. I can totally relate to your dilemma Jan. I was never good at sales and self promotion. Great decision to enroll with a professional; taking that first step is always the hardest. Congratulations and best wishes for your future business success. 👏🏻
I knit, crochet and sew, but prefer crochet, as it is easier on my neck and shoulders. I learned to knit as a child, and taught myself to crochet 48 years ago before the pending birth of my first baby. After a very long hiatus, I took up crochet and sewing again just before I retired 4 years ago. Now I sew and crochet for the children of my niece and nephew.
    I live in Qld, Australia.

  3. I feel you – I always feel awkward promoting my own Etsy shop even though it needs to be done and it’s not like it’s off topic for my blog. I buy loads of other peoples hand dyed yarns and talk about that so why not talk about my own!
To answer your questions – I’m a crochet addict (do a bit of knitting and weaving too) from Ireland!

    1. Hi Emma, lovely to hear where you are from. It’s such a hard one for a lot of creative folk. I’m glad I’m not the only one that struggles with it though. It’s so much easier to shout out for others though isn’t it. That gives me an idea, I think I might do a shout out feature on here or social media, maybe both? What social media are you on. Drop a link here so I can find you x

      1. Ooh, that sounds like a good idea. Maybe I should do the same. I don’t have much of a following on my @IdleHourCrafts Instagram but maybe I should start doing a weekly shout out to highlight other creatives and their work.

  4. Hello there I crochet and knit abit too both really to help me distress and cope when on my own i.e waiting for a bus or the like. I’m from Yorkshire England.
