Pamper time never looked so pretty! The gorgeously textured and lightweight Calm Clusters Washcloth crochet pattern has both looks and practicality. It’s light texture is perfect for gentle facial cleansing and light exfoliation too.

The Calm Clusters Washcloth crochet pattern is the first crochet pattern of the September Spa CAL 2024. This Crochet-Along runs all through September with four new free patterns for pampering yourself or making as a gorgeous gift set. Make just the ones you like most or the whole set and you can join in at any time.

Join in with the CAL over on my Facebook Group. You can talk about your yarn, show progress pictures and your finished washcloth and of course if you need any help.

The washcloth crochet pattern is generously sized as an 8” x 8” (20.3cm x 20.3cm) square, and is easily adapted for other sizes should you want a bigger/smaller facecloth. It also includes an optional border.

The beautiful texture comes from the 2dc-cl stitch, a lovely versatile stitch that I’ve used for a few patterns this year. I think it definitely wins my favourite stitch of the year award!

This pattern has been tested for errors by my fantastic pattern testers, this should mean it is accurate and error free, but if you spot an error or run into difficulties, please do let me know. Scroll down to see their beautiful versions.

I’d love to see your washcloths too. If you use Ravelry, please add this pattern to your favourites and show it off in a project. I’d love to share it on social media. You can tag me on Instagram or Facebook.

Abbreviations

St(s) – Stitch(es)                                   Ch – Chain

Yo – Yarn over                                      Sc – Single Crochet

Dc – Double crochet                             2dc-cl – Two double crochet Cluster

Notes

  1. Starting chain is worked using a larger hook to ensure it isn’t too tight.
  2. Beginning Ch-3 counts as 1st st in 2dc-cl throughout.
  3. Use stitch marker to mark 1st 2dc-cl (in 1st dc, not ch-3) in row, if helpful.
  4. For row 2 onward, make last 2dc-cl in dc (not ch-3) of 1st 2dc-cl of previous row.
  5. Stitch count is shown at the end of each row in bold.
  6. Check stitch count at the end of each row.
  7. To increase size of finished cloth, increase starting number of chains and number of rows to suit.

Gauge

With US size 7 (4.5mm) hook: 3 x 2dc-cl and 2 rows = approx. 1”/ 2.5cm.

Please note matching the number of sts to 1” is more important than matching row height. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge.
