Information Collection And Use

Personal Data – The Type of Data we collect

While using this blog, website, or social media pages, you may choose to provide certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you (“Personal Data”). Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Email address
  • First name and last name
  • Social Media account
  • Cookies and Usage Data (see Section further down this page)

You do not need to provide any personal information nor consent to any cookies or digital tracking to use this website.

Crochet patterns are purchased directly via Ravelry/LoveCrafts/Etsy stores. They manage all orders internally including payment and electronic delivery of the pattern. I am informed by email of your purchase which includes the Pattern name, total amount paid and your username and email address. I do not store this information.

Lawful Basis for holding this data

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful basis we rely on for processing this information are:

(a) Your consent. You may remove your consent at any time. (see below)

(b) We have a legitimate interest

Ravelry/Etsy/LoveCrafts require your email address and/or username if a member of the site, in order for you to purchase the pattern through their platform. This information is stored in their systems to verify your purchase and in Ravelry’s case automatically send you an updated pattern if it is amended. I do not store or use this data. To request they remove your personal data. Please see their Privacy Policy links at the end of this page.

If you have subscribed to this website via WordPress to receive email notifications of new blog posts, your email/username is stored as a subscriber and is on an internal email list. This list is not used by me but may be used by wordpress.com and linked platforms to analyse content performance (see Section: Website, Blog and Social Media Use below).

If you have subscribed to my email list, this is run by Mailerlite. Your email address is stored securely within the email providers system and subject to their Security & Privacy Policies. Link at the end of this page. You can unsubscribe from my email list at any time via the link in any of my emails. Or you can contact me to request I remove you by sending an email to thecraftytherapistuk@gmail.com

Digital tracking of site visitors by Google, via cookies, is a technical necessity to monitor accurate site statistics and performance. You can opt out via the Cookie notice and your visit will not be tracked or counted in site statistics.

Protecting your Personal Data – How we store your personal  information

I do not store or share Personal information about you. It is only stored within Mailerlite and or WordPress email system or via your particular purchase platforms (as mentioned above). You should review their data security policies to ensure you are satisfied by their security of your data.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. 

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete. 

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

Requesting a Copy of the Data I hold – You can request a copy of all the data I currently hold on file for you. I am legally required to provide this to you free of charge and within a month of the original request.

How we handle your data protection concerns

 1.  About This Procedure

This document sets out the complaints procedure for The Crafty Therapist (referred to as “we”, “us” and “our” throughout this document). It explains how we will handle any complaint you make about the way we collect, use, store, share or otherwise process your personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. 

Important : This procedure applies to GDPR and data protection complaints only.

3.  Your Rights Under UK GDPR 

You have the following rights in relation to the personal data we hold about you: 

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you (a Subject Access Request) 
  • The right to rectification — to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected 
  • The right to erasure (‘the right to be forgotten’) in certain circumstances 
  • The right to restrict processing of your personal data 
  • The right to data portability — to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format 
  • The right to object to processing, including for direct marketing purposes 
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on your consent 

 If you believe we have not respected one or more of these rights, you are entitled to raise a formal complaint using the procedure set out in this document. 

4.  How to Make a Complaint 

Please submit your complaint in writing either by post or by email using the contact details in Section 2. To help us investigate your concern as efficiently as possible, please include: 

  • Your full name and preferred contact details 
  • A clear description of your concern and which data protection right(s) you believe have been affected 
  • The approximate date(s) when the issue occurred 
  • Any relevant reference numbers, correspondence or documents 

5.  Our Complaints Process 

Once we receive your complaint, we will follow the five steps below. We are committed to handling all complaints promptly, fairly and confidentially. 

  1. Acknowledgement — within 30 days: We will acknowledge your complaint in writing within 30 days of receiving it, confirming that we have recorded it and will be investigating. 
  2. Requesting Further Information: If we need any additional details to fully investigate your complaint, we will contact you as soon as possible and explain what we need and why. 
  3. Investigation & Review: We will carry out a thorough and impartial review of your complaint. We will agree a realistic timescale with you once we have all necessary information, and we will keep you updated if there are any delays. 
  4. Decision & Outcome: We will communicate the outcome of our investigation to you clearly and in writing within one calendar month of receiving all the information needed (this may be extended by up to two further months for complex complaints — we will notify you if this is the case). 
  5. Closure or Escalation: If you are satisfied with the outcome, we will close your complaint. If you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to refer your complaint to the ICO free of charge (see Section 6 below). 

6.  Escalating Your Complaint to the ICO 

If you remain dissatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) — the UK’s independent supervisory authority for data protection. This service is free of charge.

Website, Blog and Social Media Use

Usage Data

WordPress and Google may collect information on how the blog is accessed and used (“Usage Data”). This Usage Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

WordPress will also collect personal data, such as a username and email address, for users wishing to subscribe to this blog via WordPress and for content commenting on blog posts. There is no requirement for this to use the website.

This website has the Mediavine Grow plug-in active, if you are a subscriber/choose to subscribe to this service, Mediavine will collect personal data such as username and email address. There is no requirement for this to use the website.

Tracking & Cookies Data

This WordPress website and Social Media pages use cookies and similar tracking technologies including Google Analytics to track the activity on the Service and hold certain information. This also includes interactions with external sites, such as social networks and sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, X and any links I provide to external sites eg. Ravelry and any others mentioned in individual blog posts. If you use any of these services you should you read their privacy policies too, to familiarize yourself with how they use your data. I have provided their links at the end of this document.

Cookies are files with small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. Tracking technologies also used are beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyse my website/social media pages.

Advertising

This Site is affiliated with Mediavine Journey for the purposes of placing advertising on this Site, and Mediavine Journey will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes.

If you have subscribed via WordPress to this blog you will receive an email notification each time a new post is published. You may unsubscribe via the link in the email at any time. Please note to get subscriber only offers, you need to subscribe to my email list.

If you have subscribed to my newsletter (via email sign-up form or pop-up) you will receive news and marketing emails directly from me. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in the email.

If you have purchased a pattern via Ravelry/Etsy/LoveCrafts you may receive an email from them on my behalf if the pattern is amended.

This Privacy Policy is effective as of 25th May 2018 and amended 19th June 2026 to reflect GDPR additional rules and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page.

I reserve the right to update or change this Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the blog/website after I post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgement of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.
