Calm Clusters Face Scrubby Crochet Pattern Free

The pretty Calm Clusters Face Scrubby is made using the two double crochet cluster stitch. This lovely, easy stitch creates the best of both worlds for a lightly textured combined facial scrubby/make-up round. Soft and smooth on one side, great for make-up removal. Bumpy and textured on the other, perfect for gentle exfoliation. 

The Calm Clusters Face Scrubby crochet pattern is part of a collection of patterns featured in the September Spa CAL 2024. The face scrubby crochet pattern has been made for easy use for make-up removal and frequent washing and there is a mesh washbag releasing next week to store or wash them.

Recommended Yarn for Face Scrubby

Any soft cotton #3 DK weight yarn: Approximately 11.5yds/10.5m (0.18oz/5g) per Scrubby

Yarn used: Rico Essentials Organic Cotton DK (100% organic cotton) in shade 004 Pink 115yds/105m per 1.76oz/50g.

1 x 50g ball of this yarn will make 6 Scrubbies plus a mesh Washbag for them (separate pattern coming soon). If using a different yarn, you may get more or less from your chosen yarn.

Notes

1. Beginning Ch-3 counts as 1^st st in 2dc-cl throughout.
2. Use stitch marker to mark 1^st 2dc-cl (in 1^st dc, not ch-3) in round.
3. Stitch count is shown at the end of each round in bold.
4. Check stitch count at the end of each round.

Gauge

Not important. To match measurements: First 2 rounds = approximately 2”/5cm diameter. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge.

Special Stitches/Techniques

Two Double Crochet Cluster (2dc-cl) = A simple cluster stitch made from two double crochet stitches worked together as one stitch:  *Yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook, in same stitch repeat from * once more, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook (2dc-cl stitch complete). See 2dc-cl Tutorial. Working this stitch in the round looks a little different to rows. It results in a smooth side and a textured side (the “wrong” or back side), which is perfect for a combined make-up round and facial scrubby.

INSTRUCTIONS to make Face Scrubby

Round 1: Make magic circle, make all stitches in the magic circle: ch 3, dc (ch-3, dc = 1 dc-cl), 9 x 2dc-cl. Join with sl st to dc. Close magic circle. – 10 2dc-cl

Round 2: Ch 3, dc and 2dc-cl in same st, 2 x 2dc-cl in each st to end. Join with sl st to dc. – 20 2dc-cl

Round 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 x 2dc-cl in next, *2dc-cl, 2 x 2dc-cl*, repeat from * to * to end. Join with sl st to dc. – 30 2dc-cl

Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.
