Isn’t it lovely to see the sunshine, you can’t help but feel happier when it’s around. A run of sunny Spring days inspired me to design a gorgeous bright yellow crochet suncatcher, so I can always see the sun in the my window, no matter the weather!
I love suncatchers and adore seeing the rainbows come into the room when the sun catches their crystal bead. I have them in lots of my windows.
For this design I have used metal hoops so it keeps it’s shape, I’ve found this really helps for a hanging ornament. No need for blocking or stiffening glue or starch!
The great thing about this design is that it looks just as lovely without a suncatcher bead and it can easily be made as a doily or decorative mat if you don’t want to make it with hoops.
This pattern has been tested for errors by my fantastic pattern testers, this should mean it is accurate and error free, but if you spot an error or run into difficulties, please do let me know. Scroll down to see their beautiful versions.

Recommended Yarn
Hoooked Soft Cotton, DK weight #3 yarn (80% cotton 20% other fibres; 93yards/85 m per 1.76 oz/50g skein) • 1 skein Malaga Sun (Bright Yellow) Uses approx. 31yards/28m
NB. This is a thicker DK weight cotton, it is much more like worsted weight.
Substitute with #3 or #4 weight cotton yarn that meets gauge, such as:
Paintbox Recycled Cotton Worsted (100% recycled cotton)
Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8
I chose Hoooked Soft Cotton yarn because it’s an eco-friendly recycled cotton blend yarn that gives amazing stitch definition and the yellow is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a sunny feel.
